A total of 112 projects with the combined investment of 14 million US dollars were inaugurated on Thursday by the Minister of Information and Communication Technology at the conclusion of his one-day visit to Semnan Province.
The infrastructure ICT projects unveiled
at the provincial Administrative Council include development of rural
communications, mobile networks, fiber optics, telecommunications networks, IP
infrastructure, and rural banking services.
As part of the implementation of
the Universal Service Obligation (USO) communications services program, 21
projects were put into operation.
These projects include the
development of fiber-optic infrastructure under the rural communications
development project, as well as providing communications and internet access to
21 villages through the installation of 15 rural mobile stations and the upgrading
of the technology at four mobile stations.
Iran Mobile Communications
Company (MCI) inaugurated 16 projects. These projects include the launch of one
5G mobile station and the implementation of technology upgrades and replacement
of towers at 15 urban mobile stations across the province.
Iranian communications services
company Irancell also commissioned 15 projects. These include the development
of fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-business (FTTx) networks in the counties
of Shahroud and Bastam, the launch of 12 urban mobile stations, and the launch
of one fifth-generation mobile station.
Fiber Optics and Network
Infrastructure
Rightel, the Iranian
communications services company, also inaugurated 16 projects to upgrade the
technology of mobile stations from third generation to fourth generation in
Semnan Province.
AsiaTech implemented six
fiber-to-the-home and fiber-to-the-business (FTTx) development projects in six
cities across the province—Mehdishahr, Sorkheh, Garmsar, Damghan, and Semnan.
Iran Telecommunications Company
inaugurated 32 projects in the areas of fiber-optic development, transmission
systems, switch expansion, data, buildings, power, and facilities.
IP Infrastructure and
Communications Services
The Telecommunication
Infrastructure Company also inaugurated three projects. These include the
procurement of equipment and services for the second phase of the development
of the national IP network, the third phase of the development and enhancement
of the stability of the transmission network using domestic capabilities, and
the modernization of the intercity and international switching network.
In the field of rural banking
services, Post Bank of Iran commissioned three projects. These projects include
the establishment and equipping of three rural banking counters in the
Bayat-Bala area, Garmsar, and the Semnan Industrial Estate banking counter.
The total investment made in the
112 ICT projects in Semnan Province was made across various areas, including
rural communications, mobile network development, fiber optics,
telecommunications infrastructure, and the country’s IP network.
